My interest in painting began when I was in the 5th grade. My class was unruly and we had several subs before we got a permeant teacher who was a very strict disciplinarian, (she looked like Ms. Doubtfire). She told the class that those of us who wanted to stay behind during recess could learn colors and how to paint, she introduced me to primary and secondary colors, along with design and color theory. Since I was playing little league baseball, I painted a person on a mound, but she corrected my piece by painting the shoes all black and stated that baseball players wore cleats on the sole of their shoes. My painting was later hung in the wall with others.

I studied Major Art in high school and also in college at Hampton University, Queens College and Pratt in New York.

My art training continued after retirement at the Art Student League of New York with accomplished artists such as Robert Cenedella for several years.

I work primarily in oils but have explored the beauty of colored pencils and acrylics.
